Finally, I had time to test the Tuya integration in Home Assistant. I had a Nedis Led-list SmartLife lying in the basement that I wanted to test against Home Assistant for a long time. Now I finally got the opportunity.
An excellent description has been made of how to set up the Tuya integration in Home Assistant, and basically, you just have to follow this step by step.
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/tuya/
But there are a few “pitfalls” that are good to watch out for.
1) It is important to set up the correct data center when setting up the platform at Tuya development. It is fine to change afterward, but it is important that you have chosen the right data center based on where you live. An overview of which data centers to select can be found here https://github.com/tuya/tuya-home-assistant/blob/main/docs/regions_dataCenters.md
2) There are only two applications on the mobile that are supported to make this work. Tuya Smart and Smart Life. Here I first tried Nedis Smart Life and it does not work!
3) It is important that the owner of the house in the app on the phone is the same person who is logged in to the app. Without it, you do not have the access to create the connection.
After the integration is made, it is very straightforward in Home Assistant. All added devices will enter the Home Assistant and these will be managed in the same way as any other device.
For example. with the light list, you control brightness, colors, etc. Everything was as expected. And best of all, the response is super fast.
