If you are the owner of a dog or cat, it may be nice to have a GPS tracker on your furry friend. Tractive is a GPS tracker that you attach to the collar of the cat or dog, and it works in almost the whole world (as long as you have access to a mobile network). In Tractive you get an overview of where the dog/cat is at any given time, and you also get some information about how active the animal is and how much sleep they get. Lots of nice information in other words.
Extra fun is that you can watch/compete against other animals as well – does your furry friend get enough exercise?

For us who have a smart home, the integration in Home Assistant is the icing on the cake. Then you can make automation that controls if the cat/dog is outside / inside. For example, you can start the vacuum cleaner when your furry friend is not at home.
The integration itself is super easy to do. The first thing you must have is an account on Tractive – you create it anyway when you set up the GSP for the first time.
Then go to settings in Home Assistant, select Device and services, and press “add integration” in the bottom right corner.
Look up Tractive in the list of integration. You only need to enter the e-mail and password you created in your Tractive account.
You get 9 entities from this integration, as you can see below (Our dog is called Saga)
